Computer hardware that emits sound and receives sound is called a Sound card. Sound Card is used in:

- available to send or receive data, images, videos or files as input or output
- only useful for short-range low volume data or voice transfers

Network Card
Network card can receive data as input or send data as output.
- Network Card is used to transfer data from one machine to another
- Also called Network Interface Card or simply NIC
There are 2 ways in NIC works
- CPU polls the attached device
- Attached device polls the CPU
NIC transfers data in one of following ways
- Direct Memory Access - A Device other than CPU sends data between NIC and memory
- Programmed Input/Output - CPU sends data between NIC and memory
